The old Fourth High School

The community hall of "the old Fourth High School Main Building" which is designated as an important national cultural asset was reopened as "Ishikawa Fourth High School Memorial Community Hall."

The redbrick building, preserved since its completion in 1891, appeared visionally in lights.
In our landscape lighting plan, we made use of the indoor lighting coming through the windows of the hall by turning on some lights after the closing time of the hall until the lights-out time of the exterior lighting. We also took great care in using the lamps which make the redbricks look most naturally.

The 18th family head of Maeda Family, former castellan of the Kanazawa Castle, became the first Director of the Memorial Community Hall. The Hall is expected to work as the center of cultural communication and to increase the popularity of the downtown area of Kanazawa city.

Spring Light-up of Hamarikyu Onshi Teien

Starting from March 20th, we have illuminated the rape blossoms, someiyoshino, and yaezakura in Hamarikyu Onshi Teien at each flowering time.
The illuminations are carefully designed to enhance the features of the flowers, and they attracted the garden visitors.
(Hosted by Tokyo Metropolitan Park Association, Cooperation by Martin Professional Japan, Tokyo Butai Showmei, and Kobayashidenso.)
We added a subtle touch to our illumination by using shining golden color, the color of the rape blossoms, in the illuminations of the "300-year old pine tree" and the "Otsutaibashi Bridge" since the rape blossoms were illuminated for the first time.

This year, 12 garden lanterns with ink-paintings of various flowers added an extra touch of class to the Spring Light-up of Hamarikyu Onshi Teien. The paintings were specially drawn by Kazue Kuyama, a painter famous for books such as "The Four Seasons of Oze," and "36 Views of Mt.Fuji in Wash Drawings."

A Happy New Year.

I believe that the lighting designers are now expected to create lights with a sense of life, a sense of space, and a sense of time.
This year, I will keep on challenging new expression of lights, out of sheer desire to enjoy the moment of lighting after overcoming many hurdles.
